Title: AMA Mmeberships?
Post by: Towed Jumper on August 06, 2015, 02:43:48 PM
I am looking to see how many members are also members of the AMA. I am looking to get at the possibility to Become an AMA-Chartered Club.

I personally like the work they do.

Not sure AMA charters are requires CoC approval. Any dealings with CoC would force us into a support/secondary role to the local dominant mil/vet club. Bad idea from go.

I kinda agree....some what.I do know many who are 1% ers. There are a few clubs around here that ARE NOT 1 PERCENT CLUBS THAT SPORT A 3 PIECE PATCH that by doing so must also sport the AMA patch as well. But ours is not 3 piece. The main club around me are the Pagans. Most are my age.If you need help I'm willing to do leg work or atleast explore and ask some questions.Like you and probably many I try to avoid them even though I'm friends with a few.Even helped organize a poker run for a guy I work with who crashed his bike.

We have no business being anywhere near a CoC meeting representing the USPMA. We are not a club and will not fall into that rats nest.

By being AMA chartered would allow us to participate in AMA events and potentially advertise with them.

Still looking at the options. Nothing final.

Well it happened. Was out for a ride and fuel pump went and left me stranded along the highway [bomb].I will say this if you are not an AMA member you are missing out.Call was easy and flat bed was there within 45 minutes.Guy even drove me to my place first to get my truck so I'd have a ride home from the stealership.BTW 638.46 for a new pump. With AMA 589.00 still wanna cry but hey

Ii have to agree.  Our bylaws state no back patch and that, in and of itself, puts us in a different category.  Many States also have a hold on new clubs.  Southeast Michigan has a hold on ALL new clubs for the past 3 years.

I still think that a Very Large POW/MIA Patch or a Large set of Silver Basic Jump Wings on the back of a vest would look awesome.

FWIW ONE reason I dropped out of Combat Vets was atleast the closes chapter had a shit load of 1% ers and seemed to want to morph into one.I'm too old for that shit and will ride alone before I partake

Kind of a similar problem in Michigan.  Many dual patch riders and there were problems.  So I became a Life member and hold an at large status.  I have ridden with Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee as well as Michigan.  Somewhat well accepted by all those chapters.   Of course, they are leary at first, but after a couple of meetings things are fine.
